HIGH COUNTRY HOUNDS
HUNT ETIQUETTE
__________________________________________________
1. Protective helmet is required to ride with the High Country Hounds.
2. Please kepp talking to an absolute minimum after the hounds have started hunting.
3. Give the hounds room to work. The Fieldmaster will decide which hounds can be passed on a chase. When you pass a hound, please be careful not to come too clos3e as you can never tell which way a hound may go. Do not pass the Fieldmaster unless told to do so. This applies to hacking home as well as hunting. Also, it is necessary for the staff to have direct access to the hounds, so you may not get between the hounds and the staff.
4. If you need to turn around and go back early, please tell the Fiedmaster.
5. There is a potluck brunch after each hunt. If you plan to stay for the brunch, please bring a chair, and something to share.
6. We don't advise bringing your dog to the hunt. If your dog is at the hunt, please make sure it is in your truck or otherwise in a safe place when the hounds are loose.
7. When identifying a hazard to a rider, you should point to it with your hand, and simply say "WARE" and the name of the hazard, ie. Ware Hole, or Ware Glass.
8. Hounds always have the right of way, so move away to let a hound pass.
9. While hunting, if you need to dismount at a stop, let the Fieldmaster know.
